Performance 29 Feb 2004
This demonstration/performance
explores the concept of audio-visual instruments through
a number of experimental avenues:
- Computer generated
music based on data sonification with real-time 2D
and 3D machinima style visualisation.
- DotCon -
Sonified major index stock market data from Sept 1999 to Sept 2001
with machinima "Videoclip" of
the TechWreck2000. Visuals are driven by musical events and notes
from the Koan generative music
engine.
- Spam -
Multi layered porn spam text to speech overload with dynamic visuals
as a statement on...banal spam?
- MooZk - Real-time
software instrument driven by a penpad gestural interface
- Digital
Primitives:
a computer game as instrument - flightsim as 3D ambient music explorer
through a mystic landscape populated by petroglyph soundobjects.
Two modes of play:
- Joystick for free
flight soundscape composition
- AI controlled roaming camera soundscape and soundinput responsive
visuals for jamming
- Extending traditional
instruments (Shakuhachi, Harmonica, Slide Guitar and Ebow) and
genre into the audio-visual domain through digital effects and
2D winamp visualisations via Milkdrop.
